Pre-Med Advising
Making an application to medical school takes time, effort, and strategy. We advise that you discuss your premedical school intentions with your professors and/or with a campus advising center staff. Most colleges and universities have established faculty who do premedical school advising, no matter what the student's major. Further, many institutions also provide premedical or prehealth school advising through a campus advising office. In some instances, advising services may be available to interested non-students. Check the institutions in your geographic area.
Students at the University of Minnesota can secure assistance through the advising offices in the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Biological Science and the Institute of Technology. Also, the Health Careers Center offers information sessions geared toward students preparing for medical school, and on-line "How-To Guides" (providing prerequisite course information for the UMN-Twin Cities Medical School, tips on preparing for medical school, etc.) are available on the CLA Health and Natural Sciences Advising website.
For general information on medical school applications and/or careers in medicine, log on to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) website.
Pre-Med Day is held each Sping for prospective Medical School applicants and Pre-Med advisors. You can listen to audio and view slides from the most recent Pre-Med Day event.
