Course Description

Basic and clinical human immunology and medical microbiology. Molecular and cellular basis of immune responses and tolerance, immunologic disease, serology, antimicrobial agents and chemotherapy, and basic and medical bacteriology, parasitology, mycology, and virology.

Objectives

Major bacterial, viral, fungal and parasite diseases, including their life cycles and transmission, virulence factors, types of associated illnesses and diagnosis, general principles of treatment, and methods of prevention. Innate and acquired immunity, including cellular interactions, mechnisms, derangements, and serological use in diagnosis.
