The aim of the Flexible MD program is to provide independent, supervised, enriching academic opportunities not available in the regular curriculum for medical students on a path towards achievement of the doctorate of medicine degree.
Students are approved for the Flexible M.D. program by an oversight committee of faculty and staff. Approval is based upon meeting stringent objectives.
See what some of our students are doing by visiting the Student Experience Table (x500).
Types of academic experiences students may participate in:
• Community-based service learning
• Global health via the IMER program
• Advanced courses, certificate programs or degrees
• All Dual degree programs, excluding MD/PhD
Students may take anywhere from three and one-half to six years to complete their medical education and pay the same price to earn their M.D. We believe this flexibility in the long term will improve their ability to serve the needs of patients and communities.
