Kathleen Watson, M.D.
Kathleen
Watson is a graduate of Carleton College and the University of Minnesota Medical
School. She completed residency, chief residency, and hematology-oncology fellowship
training at the University of Minnesota, and has been on the faculty since 1985.
She is a mother, teacher, and internist, directed the Primary Care Clerkship
for six years, and then, starting in 1996, the University of Minnesota Internal
Medicine Residency Program for eight years. In July 2004, she became the Senior
Associate Dean for Education at the University of Minnesota. This position has
been renamed Associate Dean for Students and Student Learning, to reflect a renewed
focus in the Medical School. Watson is the recipient of the All-University Distinguished
Teaching Award and the Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award from Accreditation
Council for Graduate Medical Education. She loves music, birds, reading, poetry,
the outdoors, and politics. She struggles with several languages and plays at
least three instruments with enthusiastic mediocrity.
