These events will give you lots of specialty specific information for applying, along with introduce you to people associated with the specialty here at the University of Minnesota Medical School who will be valuable resources for you.

Strolling Through the Match (AAFP) pdf
Developed to help medical students become more knowledgeable and better prepared to make appropriate decisions concerning their professional careers and the process of obtaining post-graduate training. It emphasizes a practical approach and encourages students to gather and summarize specialty information, establish timelines, and organize checklists and reference materials. This information can be followed by iindividual students or as an organized program by a group of students.
Roadmap to Residency: From Application to the Match and Beyond (pdf)
Published by the AAMC, the Roadmap provides comprehensive information about the process of making application to graduate medical education programs in the United States. It includes a description of candidacy requirements, factors involved in specialty choice, possible criteria for residency selection, and information about matching processes, program visits, and potential application outcomes, as well as about the transition from medical school to residency.
Charting Outcomes in the Match (pdf)
Report is a joint research effort by the NRMP and the AAMC to assist you in assessing how your qualifications may affect your match success. Based on the results of the 2007 Match, the 2nd edition of this publication includes data for 19 specialties and several new measures including USMLE Step 2 scores. The report is linked by specialty on the Match Data tab of the CiM Specialty Pages for anesthesiology, dermatology, emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopaedic surgery, otolaryngology, pathology, pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, plastic surgery, psychiatry, radiation oncology, radiology and surgery.

Creating Your Rank Order List
PowerPoint presentation prepared by the National Resident Matching Program to explain the procedures applicants must use to rank residency training programs in their web-based Registration, Ranking, and Results (R3) System. The slides display the step-by-step process for creating and certifying the rank order lists that will be used in the Match. Please also refer to the Applicant User Guide 2006 that is posted on their web site in the Residency Match section.
UnMatch Day Representative Form
Used to assign a decision-maker for an absent student, in case they did not match. Fill out and turn in if you will be absent during match week.

Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
Use this site to manage and transmit your residency application materials. Site opens mid-July. Contact Scott Davenport (Residency Program Associate) for your "token" to register.
National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
Register for the main match by December 1st to avoid late fees.
Researching Residency Programs:
Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database Access System (FREIDA) (AMA)
FREIDA Online is a database with over 7,800 graduate medical education programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, as well as over 200 combined specialty programs.

Find-A-Resident
A new member of the AAMC's family of services, FindAResidentT helps residency programs and applicants find each other, both after the NRMP Match and whenever positions become available. You can create an electronic profile, upload your CV and photo, search the database for available positions, and even notify program directors of your interest.

Transition to Residency
