A yearly introductory lecture series for Year 2 students. This page includes slides, handouts and video of the most recent lectures.
Shadow a Physician Program
First and second year medical students are invited to personally explore the various specialties of medicine and surgery through an opportunity to “shadow a physician” in that specialty for one day. Individual rotations are assigned based on your expressed interest and availability, e.g., vacation, breaks from school, weekends, or weekdays.

This site provide tools to help you with the complete career planning process from the initial self-assessment phase through ranking, transitioning into residency and obtaining licensure.
There are both public pages and a password-protected area for access to the full program (student code available to UM med students by e-mailing Scott Davenport at daven016@umn.edu). The site will allow you to take Personal Career Assessments online, store your results in a Personal Profile for future use and perform interactive Decision-Making exercises.
Note: "Careers in Medicine" was formerly named "MedCAREERS".
